Welcoming attendees to the 2026 Morningstar Investment Conference, Morningstar CEO Kunal Kapoor acknowledged that artificial intelligence is changing the business of investment advice at an extraordinary pace. It’s even taking over some of the functions advisors used to provide. But humans still matter.
“Building portfolios is as complex and difficult as ever,” Kapoor said. “Clients may be feeling successful but they are not feeling certain.” Investors must navigate a geopolitical thicket, extreme market concentration, and the convergence of public and private markets.
