Today’s expansive universe of actively managed strategies presents investors with abundant choice, but identifying those with genuine potential to outperform over the long term has become increasingly challenging. Drawing on Morningstar’s comprehensive qualitative manager research, our semiannual publication of Best of Breed - Asia cuts through the noise to spotlight a select group of actively managed strategies available to Asian investors that we believe are truly compelling – underpinned by experienced teams, disciplined investment processes, and durable advantages.

In this edition, we focus on global equity strategies. Equity gains have been strong, although market leadership is increasingly concentrated in a narrow set of AI beneficiaries. Meanwhile, broadly diversified portfolios generally achieve greater success than thematic ones over the long term. A global opportunity set can help investors access a wider range of return drivers beyond the dominant technology exposure while still offering participation in AI-related beneficiaries.
