What We Thought of Constellation Software’s Earnings

Constellation Software CSU reported strong first-quarter results for 2026 characterized by 20% year-over-year revenue growth, including 6% organic growth and a significant increase in capital deployment.

Why it matters: Organic growth and capital deployed toward acquisitions both surprised to the upside, solidifying a more positive 2026 revenue growth outlook, and signaling there is still plenty of room for the firm to deploy capital at scale in today’s environment.

  • The firm deployed or committed over USD 1.5 billion in capital within the first few months of 2026. This aggressive start suggests that concerns over “scaling limits” for its acquisition model may be premature and is a positive 2026 revenue growth signal.
  • Organic revenue growth of 6% (foreign exchange adjusted) remains in line with management’s long-term steady-state expectations, while the 9% growth in recurring revenue highlights the portfolio’s mission-critical nature.

The bottom line: We are maintaining our fair value estimate for narrow-moat Constellation at C$3,600. Shares remain undervalued, in our view, trading at a significant discount to our fair value. We think as fears around artificial intelligence disruption and capital deployment ease, it should help the multiple.

  • While first-quarter results showed a massive uptick in capital deployment that reverses the slower trend seen late in 2025, we await more clarity on the margin recovery for the latest acquisition cohort.
  • Regarding AI fears, management admitted it is not seeing much AI module monetization yet. Instead, it is focused on AI productivity gains and faster product cycles. While this can help defend against terminal value destruction, this isn’t a home run monetization story yet.

Coming up: The strategically interesting Synchronoss acquisition acted as a margin headwind this quarter. Constellation has a proven track record of fixing such “drag” assets, but the deal’s size makes its integration a key metric for 2026 performance.
